Thanks to Gene Veith’s blog for quoting another prolific blogger, Elizabeth Scalia, who in turn quoted author G.K. Chesterton, who poignantly and pointedly would describe the Baby Boomer generation to a tee – long before that generation was even born.  Worth a quick read.

For what it’s worth, I’m not sure that the generations to follow the Boomers have done much better in defining a clearer sense of purpose, though I think that is beginning to change with more young people interested in hands-on loving their neighbor through public service.  I pray that we can help them rediscover the reason why this kind of activity is so fulfilling – it mirrors (imperfectly) the love that God has shown to fallen humanity because we cannot help ourselves.
